PRIVATE GUEST-HOUSES

So far along our travels we have stayed in private “guesthouses”, which are basically a fully fitted/furnished double room, where the Owner also lives…. This arrangement provides quite a friendly atmosphere, and is not that uncommon in Europe … which I have heard quite a bit on my previous travels.
Speaking to a few of our hosts, it is becoming more obvious that they do this to subsidize their costs, which are ever-increasing since Poland joined the EU …. where wages seem to remain unchanged…. As one host explained to me, the average weekly salary in Poland is 800PLN (approx A$320), which is also his monthly gas bill during winter.
I also enjoy this experience not only cause its cheap (at less then A$30 per night for us as a couple), but also because it gives me the opportunity to talk with ordinary people, and experience how they live.
