IN TRANSIT
Nothing really interesting to say about the flight…. Qantas did what one expects … get from A to B without crashing …. Plane food smelled better than it tasted (why do I always feel that I’m the last one to be served) …..and the stewardesses are definitely not VirginBlue material.
Adelaide to Singapore (7.5 hours, 3 hour wait….shopping at Singapore airport crap (they wanted A$2000 for the same laptop I bought in Australia for A$1300 ….. how does that work??)
Singapore to Frankfurt – same shit, older plane … 11.5 hours fight - managed to get decent sleep.
Frankfurt airport at 5:30am is a pretty uninviting place … with highlight being thoroughly frisk-searched at the baggage check point by an overly eager (really white-supremacy skinhead looking security guide).
We were in transit, so here was no real reason for everyone to be frisked, so I guess that they stepped up security during the World Cup and/or did not trust Singapore to do their job as well as the Germans could.
Another few hours killed waiting , and then off on British Airway from Frankfurt o Heathrow ….. Plane food didn’t smell at all (ate some cold turkey roll that probably has been sitting in the plane for 3 or 4 days)…..and the stewardesses are definitely not Qantas material …. If anyone ever has flown BA before, then you will probably know that the origins of “mutton dressed as lamb” can probably be traced back to someone describing the staff.
