HEATHROW

Arrived in Heathrow at 8:30am (after some 26 hours in transit)…… definitely not my favorite airport … as its got that old school feel about it, where you are expecting to be bullied, or told off by a teacher.
Got a really puzzling look from immigration when I entered on my polish passport …. Especially when I called him ‘Mate’, and told him I lived in Australia. …. I think that if he had his way, he wouldn’t let me into UK, but since the EU laws are a few levels above his head, he gave me a dirty look and waved me through.
Apparently approx 300,000 young Poles have moved to London in past 12 months (since Poland joined the EU)…. So he probably expected a bad moustache, and strong accent …. At least my firstname is as polski as they come!!.

We headed to meet a friend of Pamela’s (Jodie) who was nice enough to take a day off work…The weather was mild (not as hot as I expected) …. And the Tube is definitely not in-transit-friendly … all the steps up and down where you have to carry suitcases, is one way to make sure that if you didn’t stink after a 30 hour flight, you will definitely do so after an hour tube ride… and believe me .. there were people onb the tube that stank (and im not referring to us)

Jodie was hangover & we were ‘jetlegged’ … so we were on same level.
Walked around Portobello Road (Notting Hill), went into the city to organize a pre-paid mobile sim (you need a postgraduate degree to work out all the variables in different mobile-plans here), and then decided to settle into a pub for rest of the afternoon…. They have this beer Friili …. Which tastes like a strawberry smoothie .. which the girls just loved!
