WELCOME TO BRATISLAVA

Since it was Sunday, figured that you could park pretty much anywhere in the old city where other cars were parked …. Well got that one wrong … and after being gone for less then 10 minutes, returned to see all the cars, including ours clamped.
The City Police were still there, very friendly, collecting fines, and unlocking the clamps (500SLK … about A$22). I had a friendly Polish-Slovak chat with one of them, who explained that I should be looking on the bright side of things … and that during weekdays they actually tow away all offending vehicles.
He went on to explain that they have cameras all over the city, and that they get notified on the radios where to go, as soon as an offence occurs….. great for tourists on foreign number plates!!!
He also explained that the fines are at his discretion, and can be up to 3000SLK …. So its better to have a laugh (which I did … finding it very bemusing), and enjoy the experience, then piss them off by getting angry.
