LUXOR – WEST BANK

Went on a morning excursion to Luxor’s West bank, and I have to be honest ... not very impressed with Valley of the Kings nor Queens.... don’t get me wrong, I can understand the archelogical significance ... just the tombs were not that impressive.

On the other hand, Temple of Hatshepsut was impressive, especially when you imagine its scale at the time it was created.
Also .. very interesting story behind this ancient feminist!!! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatshepsut

We had a great guide (Nana), who I had lots of interesting conversations about Egypt, and recent history (Sadat, Nasser), and hearing it from a woman’s point of view .... what made it even more interesting, is that Nana was a Christian woman (Egypt has approx 10% Christians), living in a Muslim country, and the recent issues that it causes.
